The Pattern of SSC Examination
There is a specific examination pattern set for the SSC examinations. The examination is conducted in various tiers, where Tier I and Tier II are completely computer based. The exam type is objective type i.e. multiple type questions are asked in these exams. Tier III is the descriptive one. This is the exam, which is also known as the pen and paper mode. Tier IV of this exam is a computer proficiency test which is done only in the cases wherever they are applicable. Final merit list of this examination is prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in Mains as well as interview.

The examination for tier I carry 200 marks with a duration of 60 minutes. There are 4 different parts of SSC exam and each carrying 50 marks. The First part is ‘General Intelligence and Reasoning’, second is ‘General Awareness’, third section is of ‘Quantitative Aptitude’ and last section is ‘English Comprehensive’.
- General Intelligence and Reasoning
There are effective SSC notes available for preparation of SSC examination. This section includes questions of verbal as well as non-verbal type. Questions on analogies, spatial orientation, space visualization, coding and decoding, relationship concepts, Venn diagrams, numerical operations, syllogistic reasoning, and symbolic operations are often asked. - General Awareness
Questions in this section are focused on testing the general awareness of the candidates about the environment as well as its respective application in the society. Questions are designed in such a way that the knowledge of candidates about current events is also undertaken. This component also aims at checking the knowledge of the candidates related to culture, history, geography, general policy, scientific research, and neighboring countries of India. - Quantitative Aptitude
The question in this section are structured in order to test the candidates’ ability of computation of fractions, decimals, whole numbers, ration & proportion, square and cube roots, averages, profit and loss, discounts, algebraic identities, linear equations, question related to geometry, trigonometry, complementary angles, frequency polygons, pie charts, heights and distances, congruence, time & work, partnership businesses, etc. To achieve marks in this section, the mathematical concepts of aspirant need to be well-structured. There are various books which are entirely focused on enhancing the quantitative aptitude of the candidates. For proper preparation of quantitative aptitude, SSC notes should be thoroughly studied.
- English Comprehension
This section is completely focused on testing the ability of candidates to understand, accurate English, basic comprehensions, writing abilities, etc.
The questions in the sections A, B, and D are according to the qualification of the post applied for and the questions in section C, are of 10+2 level.
There are 4 sections for in this exam too. Tier II, just like the Tier III, is also computer based. All the 4 sections of this exam are allotted a duration of 2 hours and each carries 200 marks. Questions, however, in each of the sections vary. However, the paper 3 and 4 are optional for some posts.
The two exams in Tier II are focused on testing the Quantitative Ability and English language and comprehension respectively.

This question paper is bilingual. Maximum marks for the tier III exam is 100 and the duration allotted is one hour.
